6 Injured in Crash on Rt. 252 in Tredyffrin Twp.

BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched at 12:57 p.m. for a motor vehicle collision in the area of W. Swedesford Rd. (Rt. 252) and Old Cassatt Rd. in Tredyffrin Township. The Chester County 9-1-1 Center reported several injuries and a vehicle possibly on fire.

Berwyn Ambulance 2-2/Paramedic 2-1 arrived with a two-vehicle crash with subjects injured in both vehicles. Berwyn Chief 2 established incident command and requested additional resources to the scene. This included ambulances assisting from the Paoli Fire Company, Radnor Fire Company and TowerDIRECT - Phoenixville Fire Department Division.

The crews of Berwyn Engine 2-1 and Engine 2-2 handled the cleanup of fluids and debris in the roadway and assisted EMS with patient care.

A total of 6 patients were transported to Paoli Hospital with minor to serious injuries between Berwyn, Paoli and Radnor ambulances. The MICU from TowerDIRECT stoodby in the area due to the call volume occurring between Radnor and East Whiteland.

The Tredyffrin Township Police Department provided traffic control and investigated the cause of the collision. The roadway was reopened by 2:30 p.m.

This was one of 9 fire/EMS calls responded to by Berwyn career staff and volunteers between Tredyffrin, Easttown and Lower Providence Townships on Wednesday.

As the Rt. 252 incident was occurring Malvern Fire Company EMS covered an EMS call for Berwyn at Trinity House Apartments in Easttown Township and Goshen Fire Company EMS covered another one for Paoli at Daylesford Crossing in Tredyffrin Township.
