BERWYN, PA - The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched at 6:22 p.m. for a motor vehicle collision in the area of West Valley Rd. and Upper Gulph Rd. in Tredyffrin Township. The Chester County 9-1-1 Center reported a two-vehicle crash with rollover.

First responders arrived with subjects injured in both vehicles and debris all over the roadway. Berwyn Deputy 2 established incident command and requested additional EMS resources to the scene. This included ambulances assisting from the Radnor Fire Company and Paoli Fire Company.

The rescue crew of Berwyn Engine 2-2 worked to extricate the driver of an SUV on its side by removing a portion of roof. Rescuers stabilized the vehicle to keep it from moving and placed a crew member inside with the driver to support their body weight as they were hanging from their seatbelt. EMS personnel also began providing care to the injured parties from the other vehicle as this was occurring.

A total of 3 patients were transported to Paoli Hospital between Berwyn, Paoli and Radnor ambulances. The Tredyffrin Township Police Department provided traffic control and investigated the cause of the collision. The roadway was reopened by 7:30 p.m.

This was one of 9 fire/EMS calls responded to by Berwyn career staff and volunteers between Tredyffrin Township, Easttown Township and Phoenixville Borough on Saturday from 1:42 p.m. to 8:08 p.m.

Shortly after clearing this incident, Berwyn personnel responded to a residential fire alarm at 7:48 p.m. on Valley Steam Circle in Chesterbrook, relocated an ambulance at 8:07 p.m. to standby at Paoli Hospital due to high call volume in the area and also handled a medical call at 8:08 p.m. on Fairfax Court in Chesterbrook.
