Firefighters Quick Actions Avoid Major Damage to Devon Home |

BERWYN, PA – The Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched at 9:38 p.m. to a house fire in the 200 block of Hedgemere Drive in Easttown Township. Automatic mutual aid units from the Radnor Fire Company and Newtown Square Fire Company were also requested to respond. Prior to this incident occurring, Berwyn MICU 102 was returning from Chester County Hospital after transporting a patient from a medical call on School Lane in Tredyffrin Township. Berwyn Engine 2-3 arrived on scene with fire showing from the front of a two-story single family residence. Additional resources were also summoned from the Paoli Fire Company, Broomall Fire Company and Glawdyne Fire Company to augment the response. There were no first responder or civilian injuries reported as final personnel cleared the scene by 12 Midnight. Two cats were safely removed from the 2nd floor of the home that appeared uninjured. The Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company, West Whiteland Fire Company, Rocky Run Fire Company and West End EMS of Phoenixville provided standby coverage for other potential incidents in the area. The Easttown Township Police Department, PECO Gas & Electric and Belfor Property Restoration supported the overall response with their respective work. The Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the cause of the fire and ruled it accidental. The quick actions of the first arriving volunteers and career staff spared the main body of the home significant damage. -###- |
