BERWYN, PA - Buford E. Cline joined the Berwyn Fire Company in 1989 as a Fire Police Officer. Buford served as Fire Police Lieutenant from 1996-2000. He was awarded Fire Police Officer of the Year in 2006.
Buford lent his professional skills as a Credit Manager to the fire company when he served as Trustee and Financial Secretary for two-terms during the 90’s. As a Trustee Buford oversaw major firehouse upgrades from the updating of the electrical system to the apparatus bay flooring.
Buford served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Ordnance Man I (AOM1) during World War II. He was assigned on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and with Blimp Hedron 4 in Bahia, Brazil during his tenure from 1943-1946. As an AOMI he was responsible for the handling and loading of bombs onto fighter planes. He was awarded the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Buford was instrumental in getting the Fire Police Unit to actively participate with the Chester County Fire Police Association and with the State Fire Police Association.
Buford has served the United States of America and Tredyffrin-Easttown community with great pride and distinction.
