BERWYN, PA - As the recipient of donations and public funds from Tredyffrin Township and Easttown Township, it is important for the Berwyn Fire Company to share its annual audited financial statements.
The Berwyn Fire Company had previously engaged Barbacane, Thornton & Company as its independent auditing firm for several years. This was done intentionally, as this is the firm that performed audits for Tredyffrin Township. The intent was to continue the goal of 100% fiscal responsibility and transparency. This was also an established goal of the Berwyn Fire Company 2018-2023 Strategic Plan that was crafted with input from the community and locally elected officials.
Since 2022, the Berwyn Fire Company has continued this commitment with Maillie to complete its annual audits. This is the firm that had previously performed audit reports for Easttown Township and has worked with numerous municipalities and organizations throughout Chester County.
Maillie has successfully completed their audits of the Berwyn Fire Company and the Berwyn Fire Company Volunteer Relief Association. Their management letter and audit report is included as a PDF below for the 2024 calendar year. The Berwyn Fire Company Relief Association audit will also be shared when it becomes available. This is an additional annual audit that the Relief Association conducts, not including the triennial audit performed by the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General.
The audit was a comprehensive look at the overall finances of the Berwyn Fire Company that closely examined policies and procedures to ensure there are no issues. This included a detailed review of financial controls and oversight practices. It is essential to highlight that there were no negative findings or recommendations for changes that came from this audit.
The Berwyn Fire Company extends its appreciation to President Andrew Emory (volunteer and Easttown resident), Treasurer Andrew Olsen (volunteer and Easttown resident), Secretary Linda DiMartini (volunteer and Easttown resident), Battalion Chief Sheryl Drach (36 year full-time employee), Fire Chief Justin Brundage (volunteer and Tredyffrin resident) and EMS Captain Michael Baskin (volunteer and Easttown resident) for their extra efforts during the audit process.
