| BERWYN, PA - At approximately 4:30 p.m. today, the Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched, by the Chester County 9-1-1 Center, to the 400 block of Old Lancaster Road in Easttown Township for a report of a person trapped under a tree. Due to the incident’s severity, mutual aid was requested from the Paoli Fire Company. There were also Berwyn personnel simultaneously assisting with a brush fire near the Norfolk Southern Railway in the area of Lafayette Road in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County.
Upon arrival, Berwyn rescuers found an individual pinned between a riding lawn mower and a large tree branch. The initial crews acted quickly to free the person. During the rescue, the remainder of the large tree fell and landed away from everyone at the scene.
The individual was successfully extricated and transported by Berwyn EMS to Paoli Hospital in serious but stable condition. The Easttown Township Police Department assisted during the incident. |
