| BERWYN, PA - On Sunday, August 2nd at 2:17 p.m., the Berwyn Fire Company was dispatched to the 500 block of Sugartown Road in Easttown Township for a residential fire alarm activation.
Berwyn Engine 2 and MICU 2-1 arrived on scene with no signs of smoke or fire showing from the exterior of the single family home. Upon further investigation smoke was visible as crews looked inside prompting the call to be upgraded to a house fire at 2:25 p.m. Berwyn Assistant 2 also established Sugartown Road Command.
The upgrade added mutual aid resources from the Paoli Fire Company and Newtown Square Fire Company (Rapid Intervention Team) to the incident. Berwyn Engine 2 forced entry to the home and deployed a hoseline to the 2nd floor where fire was located in a bathroom. The fire was quickly extinguished and the smoke was cleared from the home with fans.The incident was placed under control at 2:37 p.m.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and there were no first responder injuries. All units cleared the scene before 4:30 p.m.
The Chester County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire per standard protocol. The Easttown Township Police Department provided traffic and scene control. Radnor Fire Company Chief officers also assisted at the scene. |
